The Guardian ad Litem Foundation raises the funds necessary to recruit and train volunteer advocates to represent the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect. These dedicated volunteers become the “voice” for these children in court, their schools, the case management system, and with other community agencies until a safe and permanent living arrangement can be achieved. Each case typically takes from one to three years to close. We currently have over 2000 children in the dependency system and just over 535 Southwest Florida residents serving as volunteer advocates.
