Visit the Village of the Arts for their vibrant monthly artwalk the first Friday and Saturday of every month. Discover unique galleries, studios, specialty shops, healing arts, food and music during this popular monthly event. Artwalk begins with extended hours Friday night from 6-9:30 and showcases live music, artist receptions and other special activities throughout the evening. Artwalk weekend continues on Saturday 11am-4pm. Parking available in the parking garage at the corner of 12th St. West and 8th Ave West. The Fabulous Independent Film Festival is gearing up for its seventh edition with a slate of new LGBTQ films and events! Harvey Milk Festival is proud and honored to have added FIFF to its yearly programming. Bringing the community together and staying inspired, Magida Diouri will remain programming the festival for this wonderful event she founded.
Lakewood Ranch Music on Main, a FREE, family friendly concert series and block party open to the public, will benefit the Lakewood Ranch YMCA this Friday, October 6! Volunteers will be serving beer at a beer truck to benefit the Y. The street is lined with food vendors and sponsor booths, as well as rides and activities for kids presented by Grace Community Church. Kim Betts & The Gamble Creek Band will fill the air with County & Southern Rock music and the deejay will play today’s Top 100 hits. Proceeds from the event will benefit local children and families in need through services such as mentoring and leadership, programs for special needs adults, gang prevention, safe places for before/after school and camp, diabetes prevention programs, and other health and wellness services.

The Sarasota Firemen’s Benevolent Fund will host the 18th Annual Morton’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off, which will be held on Sunday October 8, 2017 from 2pm-5pm. The event will be held on Osprey Avenue between Hyde park street and Hillview Avenue in Sarasota. Fifteen of Sarasota Fire Houses including firehouses from Englewood, North Port and Boca Grande will compete against each other for the title of the “Best Fire House Chili in Sarasota” and for the Best Booth. Every year all monies raised are donated to the Sarasota Fireman’s benevolent fund, which is a 501-3c non-profit organization. A panel of Celebrity Judges will be on hand to determine the winner. Enclosed is a list of confirmed judges with more to be announced.
